If you’ve landed here searching for 1.1 1.1 internet, you’ve probably come across one of the most curious and least understood IP addresses on the web. Let’s clear up all your doubts in less time than it takes to open a new tab.
What exactly is 1.1 1.1 on the Internet?
The combination 1.1 1.1 internet refers to the IP address 1.1.1.1, a free DNS service launched by Cloudflare in 2018. Its goal is to offer faster, more private, and more secure name resolution than your Internet provider’s. It’s easy to remember and, above all, very fast.
Why is 1.1 1.1 written with a space?
Many users write «1.1 1.1» with a space due to a typo or because their keyboard interprets it that way. In reality, the correct address is 1.1.1.1. That small space doesn’t change the meaning: it refers to the same DNS service. If you see it on a forum or in a search, you now know they’re talking about Cloudflare DNS.
Real advantages of using 1.1.1.1
- Speed: it responds to DNS queries in milliseconds thanks to its global network.
- Privacy: it doesn’t log your IP address or sell your data.
- Security: compatible with DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT).
- Availability: it works even when your carrier fails.
How to set it up on your device
On Windows: Settings > Network & Internet > Change adapter options > Properties > IPv4 > Use the following DNS server addresses: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. On mobile, simply download the official 1.1.1.1 app and activate the connection. On routers, access the admin panel and replace the current DNS with Cloudflare’s.
Is it worth it?
If you’re looking up 1.1 1.1 internet to improve your connection, the answer is yes. It’s free, easy to install, and adds extra privacy. That said, it doesn’t replace a VPN: it only encrypts DNS queries, not all your traffic. Now that you know the secret of 1.1.1.1, your browsing will be faster and more secure.
