If you’re thinking about hiring Telmex, you’ve surely already seen a thousand ads with “irresistible” promotions. But before signing, there are details that salespeople don’t always mention and that can completely change your experience. Here we tell you straight.
1. Real coverage, not the one on the map
Telmez boasts of reaching almost all of Mexico, but quality varies enormously between neighborhoods. Before hiring Telmex, ask your neighbors how stable their connection is. A key fact: fiber optics isn’t available in all areas; in many, the old copper still operates with very limited speeds.
2. The “promotional” price has a catch
Plans are usually cheap for the first 6 or 12 months. After that, the rate goes up without clear notice. Review the contract: how much will you really pay per year? Are there installation or modem charges? Always ask for the total cost, not just the monthly one.
3. Packages that are actually worth it
If you only need internet, the basic fiber plan may be enough. But if you want unlimited calls to Mexico, the USA, and Canada, the package with a phone line is still competitive. Compare before hiring Telmex: sometimes a combo turns out cheaper than separate services.
4. Technical support, a gamble
Reporting a fault can take days. Know the service number and keep your contract number handy. The Mi Telmex app helps you check balances and report faults without waiting on the line.
5. Ask about the contract term clause
Some plans require you to stay for 12 months or pay a penalty. If you plan to move soon, avoid those contracts. Ask explicitly: “Can I cancel at no cost?”.
In short: hiring Telmex can be a good idea if you verify coverage, read the fine print, and compare the real cost over 12 months. Don’t let yourself be swayed only by the price on the first bill.
