You’re with colleagues, you want to put on a series, a game, or show a PowerPoint you made at the last minute 😅…
And someone blurts out:

“Put it on the TV, it looks bigger, bro!”

And that’s when the cold sweats start:
👉 Where’s the cable?
👉 How do you do that “share screen” thing?
👉 Do I have to be a hacker? 😵‍💫

Relax, this is easier than frying an egg. Here are simple ways to connect your laptop to the TV without drama:

📺 OPTION 1: The classic HDMI cable (grandparent-proof)

✅ Connect one end to your laptop and the other to the TV
✅ Change the source on your TV (Input/Source → HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.)
✅ Boom, you’re now watching the computer on the big screen
🎯 Ideal if you want zero complications and have the cable on hand

📡 OPTION 2: Via WiFi with Windows (without leaving the couch)

  1. On the laptop:
    🔍 Windows key + K → select the TV
  2. On the TV:
    Make sure it has screen mirroring enabled

👉 Click the 3 dots in the top right
👉 “Cast” → choose the TV

🔧 If you want to go further, there are apps that help you share your screen over the network without cables, without hassle, without tears.

That said… some have limits or ask you for a premium account. But for a quick fix, they work.

❌ Why doesn’t it work sometimes?

  • The HDMI is loose (push it in firmly, but don’t break it)
  • The TV doesn’t detect the input (change the input)
  • The WiFi is going like a drunk turtle 🐢
  • Your computer doesn’t support Miracast (yes, it happens)
